Paintings by Joe Rooney

Lee River China Costa del Sol
Color and light saturate Joe Rooney’s paintings. He has been painting since 1995 and acrylics have now become his preferred medium. The 27 paintings in this solo exhibit (both acrylic and watercolor) include scenes from around the world. China, Italy, Greece, the Caribbean and Ireland all have been captured in glowing colors. Joe has also turned his artistic eye to some uniquely American subjects such as light houses, covered bridges, country churches and barns.
Italy II The Church
He started his art career after being introduced to watercolor by the renowned watercolorist Tony Chaplan at the Joe Kupert School of Art in Dover, NJ. In 2003 he attended the duCret School of Art in Plainfield N.J. to study the medium of acrylics. Over the past few years Joe has also attended workshops in Boone, North Carolina at Joe Miller's Art Emporium. These week long workshops are taught by a variety of professional artists. i.e. Janet Rogers, well known for her portraits and floral paintings, Terry Harrison, thatched Cottages and Rustic Barns, Don Andrews, watercolor landscapes.

Last Spring Joe had an exhibition at the Newton Gallery. He is a member of the Morris County Art Association and the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council in Newton. You can contact Joe at 856-234-5401.
